Welcome back and Happy New Year! We are at the start of a brand new year. A clean slate. A new book with 365 blank pages to start a new story. Whatever way you want to look at it, its a beginning. And how exciting it that!
To start the new year off I've finally settled on a logo design.
Spirals were the inspiration of Treasure of the Moon Goddess. Throughout history, from the earliest cave paintings in France to Newgrange, across the world to Maori people of New Zealand, the Native Americans and into the mysterious Amazon. Spirals are a symbol that can mean a variety of things whether it is growth, creation myths, astrological symbols, or as in Treasure of the Moon Goddess, a map with star points used for navigation.
Productivity 2020: Am I an organized writer with detailed outlines? NO. Am I a discovery writer that lives in her head and thinks up plot twists and turns while doing other daily life chores? Yes. And with that yes, I don't always have a pen and paper near to hand to write my bursts of inspiration down. So, to get better organized, I've started doing things differently. First, I've begun to use the voice to text on my phone. It's not one hundred percent, but the bones of my thoughts are there. Two, making more of an effort to get that detailed outline down on paper (or rather computer).
A book I've recently listened to is Habit Stacking: 97 Small Life Changes That Takes Five Minutes or Less by S. J. Scott / the whole book is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Well worth the listen. Small changes to your normal routine to make huge differences in the future. I love the sound of that. And the changes don't focus on one particular aspect of your life but in many: health (mental or physical), work, relationship, etc. Great read, highly recommend it.
New to my Website: I've added a new tab on the menu tab of my website: Community Adventure
This year I'll be traveling more and thought it would be fun to have a place where we could all share our travels whether it's close to home or across the world. Go check it out and join in.
I've already started a list of places to visit this year, many in my home state of Massachusetts and a few abroad. I can't tell you how excited I am. I love exploring new places. It fuels my inspiration for my current work-in-progress of Lost Queen and the next novel in the series.
A New Beginning: A Kristi Short Story/ I have a short story I wrote a couple of years ago and have almost completed the last edit and will be looking for Beta Readers to give it a go. If you are interested in giving it a read through before I submit it to an editor email me: karriebarnum@gmail.com Any critiques would be a huge help.
On a Personal Note: I'd like to take a moment to say how heartbroken I am for Australia and the devastation there. I can only hope and pray for the people, animals, and flora that they will find relief soon. If anyone knows of donation services lets spread the word so we can help even if its in a small way.
XOXO, Karrie
